Centre for Vaccines and Diagnostic Research

GLA University, Mathura
Centre for Vaccines and Diagnostic Research(CVDR)

About the CVDR

The Center for Vaccines and Diagnostic Research (CVDR) has been established with a mission to harness the power of vaccines and diagnostics to prevent and manage infectious diseases in the 'One Health' approach. The emergence of new pathogens and continued evolution of existing diseases is creating new global challenges. These challenges need to be taken care of as 'One Health' initiative. Therefore, vaccines and diagnostics are going to play a seminal role in fighting these challenges.

The center is strengthening the links between basic research and translational research, industry and the socio-economic world, to accelerate vaccines and diagnostic development. Our vaccine research Center focuses on developing new vaccines, improving existing vaccines and development of better adjuvants. Further, there is a need to develop new generation points of care diagnostics that are affordable and efficacious, especially in the view of a resource-limited population in a developing and underdeveloped world. Our team has expertise in developing point of care diagnostics.

The center concentrates on the integration of a transdisciplinary approach from the basic sciences to translational research towards the development of vaccines and diagnostics. Training is a critical component of the Center and ensures the foundation for the next generation of scientists and researchers committed to global health initiatives.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Center is to facilitate and conduct research focused on the development of vaccines and diagnostics vaccines for infectious agents of global importance while training the next generation of scientists.

Specific Objectives

  • Provide the optimal environment for an integrated scientific program for developing vaccines and diagnostics.
  • Develop and extend the portfolio of candidate vaccines to be tested in clinical trials.
  • Develop affordable and efficacious diagnostics for infectious diseases.
  • Training of future scientists ready to take up the challenges of infectious diseases.

Strategic Approach

  • Innovations: Applying scientific and technological skills to develop translational technologies.
  • Collaborations: Developing strong academic and industry collaborations at national and global levels to enhance expertise in vaccines and diagnostics research and development.
  • Skilled Development: Expanding an educational program designed to train the next generation of scientists.
